CTOnews.com March 9 news, according to CNNC official WeChat, CNNC has made new progress in international standardization construction, and the international standard "reactor Technology-Thermal Helium leak Detection method for High temperature pressurized parts of Nuclear Fusion reactor-Nuclear Fusion reactor" (standard number ISO 4233: 2023) was officially released on March 6, 2023.

CTOnews.com learned from the information released by CNNC that this international standard was co-ordinated by CNNC, compiled under the leadership of the Southwest Institute of Physics of the Nuclear Industry, and compiled with the participation of the Institute of Nuclear Industry Standardization of the China Nuclear Strategic Planning and Research Institute.

CNNC said that this standard is not only the first international standard in the field of nuclear fusion in China, but also the first international standard in the field of nuclear fusion issued by ISO.

According to reports, nuclear fusion is the final step in the implementation of the three-step strategy of "thermal reactor-fast reactor-fusion reactor" in China's nuclear energy development. Hot helium leak detection is a technology to test the vacuum tightness of fusion reactor vacuum chamber components (that is, reactor core components), and it is the most key link to effectively ensure the safe and stable operation of fusion reactor.

CNNC pointed out that the Southwest Institute of Physics of the Nuclear Industry took the lead in developing thermal helium leak detection technology for high-temperature and pressure components and built medium-and large-scale hot helium leak detection equipment with high sensitivity. With the release of this international standard, the high sensitivity thermal helium leak detection equipment independently developed by Southwest Institute of Physics of Nuclear Industry will play a more important role in the international stage.
