Shulou(Shulou.com)11/24 Report--

CTOnews.com March 9 news, it is well known that Microsoft announced in January last year that it would buy Activision Blizzard for $68.7 billion, but due to the concerns of Sony and other competitors, major regulators have not "released" this, even though Microsoft has given a "10-year agreement" to ensure that PlayStation players can play until the "call of Duty".

Last month, Microsoft also signed a binding 10-year agreement with Nintendo: if its proposed acquisition of Activision Blizzard is approved, it will bring Nintendo Switch players a "call of Duty" experience with "full functionality and Xbox equivalents".

But an investigation by the UK's Competition and Market Authority (CMA) found that Nintendo Switch was "technically" unable to operate call of Duty.

In a document that Microsoft just submitted to CMA, the company shared some details about how it thinks call of Duty can run on Nintendo Switch.

In this document, Microsoft proposes two key points to demonstrate the possibility of bringing buy-and-play games such as call of Duty: theater and Modern Warfare II to the Switch platform:

Microsoft said the engine behind the war zone had been "optimized and capable of running on a variety of hardware devices", including the Xbox One (mainframe) launched in 2015 and the "2015 graphics card" (PC), which predates the 2017 Switch. (Microsoft specifically mentioned in its footnotes that Activision offers a "theater" mobile game version that can "run on phones with much lower performance specifications than Nintendo's Switch.")

Microsoft also said Activision has a long history of "optimizing the performance of games with available hardware" and is "confident" to apply technologies from big games such as Apex Hero, Doom: eternal and Fortnite to call of Duty on Switch.

Of course, CTOnews.com must be mentioned here, if you have ever played "Fortnite" on Switch, you should know that although it is "playable", the picture looks much worse than that on the mainframe and PC platform. We think Microsoft wants to say the same thing. After the acquisition, they can specially develop a "call of Duty" or cloud game for Nintendo, or migrate "call of Duty Mobile Games" to the platform.

In addition, Microsoft said Activision expects call of Duty mobile games to be phased out by war zone mobile games "over time" (outside China). It is reported that Battle Zone Mobile Games is also a game jointly developed by Activision Shanghai, Beenox, Digital Legends and Solid State Studios, while call of Duty: mobile Games is co-developed and owned by Tencent Timi Studio.

Activision Blizzard previously revealed that, released by call of Duty in October 2019, it had been downloaded more than 650 million times as of May 2022. The company said at the time that call of Duty had a record year in 2021, with consumer spending "well over" $1 billion.
