CTOnews.com March 8, Google Chrome browser launched the latest official version of 111on March 7, bringing more improvements and optimizations, most notably the improvement of the "download Bubble" user interface, the expanded picture-in-picture API, and a smoother transition of web applications.

Since Chrome 99, Google has been working to improve the download interface. A large row of download information at the bottom of the screen is replaced by a "download bubble" in the top toolbar. Click on the icon and you will see a list of recent downloads.

Chrome 111is continuing to improve the user interface, adding numbers to show how many files are being downloaded. Download bubbles can be opened with two Chrome flags: chrome://flags/#download-bubble and chrome://flags#download-bubble-v2.

Web application has always been a key area of Chrome browser update. With Chrome 111, Google has brought a new API to the browser, making it easier for developers to achieve a smooth transition between pages. This will make web applications feel more like local applications.

Chrome 111also adds the ability to revoke permissions on forgotten sites, many of which require users to provide a variety of permissions when they visit. Location, notification, clipboard, camera, etc. Users are required to grant access only once and then indefinitely, which is obviously not good, so Chrome 111adds the ability to automatically revoke these permissions. It now includes more personalized suggestions and reminders, including revoking permissions on sites that users haven't visited for more than two months.

Chrome OS 111also adds a new keyboard shortcut application that can be used to make users' own shortcuts. Keyboard shortcuts can be found in Settings > Devices > Keyboard > View Keyboard shortcuts. These shortcuts are pre-mapped, but they will eventually support programmability. Currently, clicking the shortcut key allows the user to edit, but the user cannot actually save the configuration.

In addition, Chrome 111is testing a new document Picture-in-Picture API that allows developers to fill the picture-in-picture window with any required HTML content, such as Pomodoro timers, not just videos.

This new API builds on the previous picture-in-picture API, which only allows the use of HTMLVideoElement in picture-in-picture windows. With this improvement, web developers can provide their users with a better picture-in-picture experience.

All the features described in CSS color level 4 are now enabled. The color-mix () function in CSS Color 5 can also be used.

The previousslide and nextslide actions have been added to the existing media session API.

The ArrayBuffer constructor has been extended to accept an additional maximum length, allowing the buffer to grow and shrink in place.

In Chrome 111, the ability of the network payment API to bypass the connect-src CSP policy when obtaining the list has been removed.
