CTOnews.com March 8, according to foreign technology media 9to5Mac reports, through in-depth mining of iOS 16.4 Beta 3 code, Apple's Car Key function may no longer support NFC in the future.

The Car Key feature currently supports NFC and ultra-wideband (UWB) technology, and the code description shows that for devices that are compatible only with NFC, it will pop up: "the current iPhone / Apple Watch is not compatible with this model."

NFC, also known as near-field communication, is a set of communication protocols that allow two electronic devices to communicate within a few centimeters apart. Ultra-wideband (Ultra Wide Band,UWB) technology is a kind of wireless carrier communication technology, which does not use sinusoidal carrier, but uses nanosecond non-sinusoidal narrow pulse to transmit data, so it occupies a wide spectrum range.

UWB technology has the advantages of low system complexity, low power spectral density of transmitted signals, insensitive to channel fading, low interception capability and high positioning accuracy, so it is especially suitable for high-speed wireless access in dense multipath places such as indoor.
