Shulou(Shulou.com)11/24 Report--

Beijing time on the morning of March 8, according to reports, sources revealed that in the recent investigation of Twitter, the US Federal Trade Commission (FTC) plans to require Elon Musk (Elon Musk) to attend the hearing. Musk bought Twitter last year for $44 billion (currently about 306.24 billion yuan).

After Twitter was acquired by Musk, FTC further strengthened its investigation into Twitter's privacy protection and data security practices at the end of last year. Musk's presence at the hearing will mark an escalation of the investigation.

FTC also asked Twitter to submit more documents, including communications related to recent layoffs and Musk's management style, according to a congressional report. FTC also requires documentation related to the Twitter File project. Musk had previously launched the project to allow outside journalists access to Twitter's internal information.

Information about the investigation came from a report of the House Judiciary Committee released Tuesday local time. The report provides some details of FTC's response to Musk's acquisition of Twitter.

Musk said on Twitter on the same day: "it is a shameful case to weaponize government institutions for political purposes and to suppress the truth."

Twitter has yet to respond to a request for comment. FTC declined to comment.

In the three months since Musk bought Twitter, FTC has sent more than a dozen inquiry emails to Twitter. The House Judiciary Committee said in its report that this showed that FTC had been "trying to harass" Twitter.

Twitter currently has an agreement with FTC that FTC can monitor Twitter's privacy practices. Under Musk's leadership, a large part of Twitter's layoffs are aimed at employees in charge of privacy and information security.
