CTOnews.com, March 7 (Xinhua)-- Apple was the most popular smartphone brand last year, with eight iPhone models among the top 10 best-selling smartphones, with Samsung occupying the remaining two, according to CounterPoint Research's monthly global mobile phone sales tracking report.

Apple is the first brand to occupy so many places in its top 10. According to the report, Apple's iPhone 13 was the best-selling smartphone in 2022, accounting for 28% of iPhone sales, and became the best-selling smartphone in major markets such as China, France, Germany, the United Kingdom and the United States.

According to Counterpoint, the iPhone 13 has been the No. 1 smartphone every month from its launch in September 2021 to August 2022, and the price reduction after the launch of iPhone 14 has further boosted iPhone 13 sales.

Compared with the second-ranked iPhone 13 Pro Max, iPhone 13 sells twice as much as the former, highlighting the popularity of the device in all markets. With regard to the third-ranked iPhone 14 Pro Max, the report points out that this is the first time in the iPhone series that the Pro Max version sells more than the Pro and standard models. The phone is the best-selling smartphone in September, October and November 2022.

In addition, strong sales in places such as the United States, Japan and China put the iPhone 12-2021 best-selling smartphone in sixth place on the list, surpassing the iPhone14 and iPhone14 Pro, and it is also the oldest model on the list. At the same time, iPhone SE (2022) occupied the tenth place.

CTOnews.com noted that Samsung has two phones on the list, with the entry-level Galaxy A13 at fourth and the Galaxy A03 at 10th.
