According to the website of the General Administration of Customs, China's imports and exports totaled 6.18 trillion yuan in the first two months of this year, down 0.8 percent from the same period last year, CTOnews.com reported on March 7. Of this total, exports totaled 3.5 trillion yuan, up 0.9 percent; imports totaled 2.68 trillion yuan, down 2.9 percent; and the trade surplus increased by 16.2 percent to 810.32 billion yuan.

According to the General Administration of Customs, in the first two months, China's exports of mechanical and electrical products totaled 2.03 trillion yuan, an increase of 0.4 percent, accounting for 58 percent of the total export value. Of this total, automatic data processing equipment and its spare parts were 183.72 billion yuan, down 26.7 percent; mobile phones were 163.35 billion yuan, up 10.5 percent; and cars were 96.83 billion yuan, up 78.9 percent.

CTOnews.com learned from data released by the General Administration of Customs that in the same period, imports of mechanical and electrical products totaled 888.81 billion yuan, down 19.8 percent. Of these, 67.58 billion integrated circuits decreased by 26.5%, with a value of 329.07 billion yuan, down 24.9%; 106000 cars (including chassis) decreased by 30.4%, with a value of 49.47 billion yuan, down 18.5%.
