Now that a new Chromium Gerrit submission shows that Google is expanding this feature, Chrome's Hover Cards feature will soon show how much memory is being used by the current tab. Memory usage is displayed when the user places the cursor over the label.

To see the memory usage data for each tab, press Shift + Esc (or click… > More Tools> Task Manager) to open Chrome's own Task Manager, which displays the network and CPU consumption for each tab, but hovering over the tab is more convenient.

As the feature is still in beta and it's unclear when it will officially launch, CTOnews.com will keep an eye out.
