The revenue of Huawei's consumer business has shrunk sharply because of chip restrictions. But instead of giving up on this area, Huawei changed its name to terminal business and began to enter the commercial terminal market in an all-round way.

CTOnews.com noted that in the past year, Huawei has launched a number of commercial notebooks, desktops, monitors, tablets and other products, with Hongmeng and Euler as the core operating systems to create a dual ecology of hardware and software.

Some experts believe that if Huawei divests its consumer business, it will affect its layout in the areas of health, display and metasmology, as well as the development of Hongmeng and Euler systems. At the same time, Huawei also has plans to expand into the gaming and digital currency industries, which also needs consumer business as a foundation. As a result, the cost of breaking up the consumer business is too high.

Other experts point out that breaking up some restricted businesses can reduce risk and increase cash flow. In November 2020, Huawei sold its brand glory assets and achieved good results. For Huawei, while retaining its core business, it should also strive to break through the difficulties in chip manufacturing process and cooperate with the domestic semiconductor industry chain.
