He stressed that the MacBook Air update iteration was imminent, but some details, such as the chip used, were "not clear".

Gurman said it was "reasonable" (subjectively predictive) that at least the next 13-inch MacBook Air would be equipped with an unreleased M3 chip.

It can be seen from the existing revelations that Apple's new generation of M3 chips will be based on TSMC's latest 3nm process to improve performance. Of course, the current 13-inch model was released in July 2022 with a M2 chip based on 5nm technology, which is still mainstream today.

Apple has just launched the latest MacBook Pro, which comes with the new M2 Pro and M2 Max, and Gurman says Apple may launch the M3 Pro and M3 Max chips in 2024.

Gurman thinks the 15-inch MacBook Air may not be equipped with an M3 chip. He said the 15-inch model with the M2 chip "may still excite consumers", but given the upcoming launch of the M3 chip, it "will soon be out of date".

CTOnews.com noted that DigiTimes revealed last month that the 15-inch MacBook Air would be equipped with M2 chips, and Apple analyst Guo Mingyi predicted that Apple would use M2 or M2 Pro chips in the 15-inch MacBook Air.

Ross Young, an analyst at DSCC, said the supply chain began producing display panels for the new 15.5in MacBook Air in February, and he has good accuracy in this regard.

All in all, there is still uncertainty about the chips on the new MacBook Air models, but it is worth noting that both the 13-inch and 15-inch models are expected to be released in the summer. He thinks Apple may also launch a new Mac Pro desktop computer with the M2 Ultra chip and the same design as the 2019 model in the summer, while the new 24-inch iMac will be released as early as the second half of this year.

Looking ahead, he predicts that the M3 chip will also appear in the new OLED iPad Pro in the first half of 2024. This is in line with Apple's practice of updating its tablet products in the spring and is basically in line with what we hear from Ross Young.

He also said, "more exciting Mac upgrades will come as early as 2025." As he said before, this could be Apple's first MacBook product with a touch screen and an OLED display.
