Thanks to CTOnews.com netizen OC_Formula for the clue delivery! CTOnews.com, March 6 (Xinhua)-- Pine64's latest PineTab2 is an Linux tablet with a 10.1-inch display, a removable keyboard and a Ruixin RockchipRK3566 quad-core ARM Cortex-A55 processor.

The tablet, which made its debut in December, has a faster processor, more memory, stronger manufacturing quality and other improvements than the original PineTab (which starts at $100,000,000). The new tablet starts at $159 (CTOnews.com Note: currently about 1099 yuan).

The PineTab2 is more powerful, with a standard backlit removable keyboard (the original PineTab tablet costs an extra $20 for optional keyboard accessories). In addition, inflation and supply chain problems make products more expensive.

Pine64 said that the PineTab2 tablet is tentatively scheduled to go on sale in April 2023 and will have two pricing / configuration options to choose from:

4GB memory / 64GB storage, $159.00 (CTOnews.com Note: currently about RMB 1099)

8GB memory / 128GB storage, $209.00 (CTOnews.com Note: currently about RMB 1444)

Both versions have LPDDR4 memory, eMMC flash memory, and exposed PCIe connectors that users with ideas can use to connect to other hardware.

The PineTab2 features USB 3.0 Type-C and USB 2.0 Type-C ports, micro HDMI ports, 3.5mm audio jacks and microSD card slots. There are also 5MP rear cameras and 2MP front cameras.

Pine64's Lukasz Erecinski says the tablet is designed to be easier for users to maintain because of its modular design. The camera, battery and USB keyboard connectors are all removable and can be replaced within 5 minutes. The eMMC flash memory is located on its own replaceable circuit board. And the IPS LCD screen can also be replaced.

PineTab2 will probably pre-install the GNU / Linux distribution, but like most Pine64 hardware, it allows users to quickly select an operating system. The software is still under development: the customized version of Arch Linux that Erecinski showed on the tablet at the FOSDEM party last month does not yet support the tablet's USB 3.0 port, camera or Bluetooth. However, the Pine64 device is still a friendly development platform for Linux software and supports practical daily use.
