CTOnews.com, March 5 (Xinhua)-- Honda has stopped production of the Clarity, the only hydrogen fuel cell vehicle in the United States, but has not given up hydrogen fuel cell technology. Honda recently announced that it will use some old hydrogen fuel cells as backup power for data centers to achieve zero-emission, efficient, reliable and safe energy supply.

It is reported that Honda has built a fixed hydrogen fuel cell power station at its headquarters in Torrance, California, which can provide 100 kilowatts of power for the data center. According to CTOnews.com, the power station consists of two hydrogen fuel cells removed from Clarity cars, which were supposed to be recycled or destroyed, but Honda took advantage of their remaining life and performance to reassemble and debug them to meet the needs of fixed power stations.

Honda says the project is to explore the potential of hydrogen fuel cells in non-mobile applications, as well as to achieve its global goal of carbon neutrality by 2030. Honda plans to apply fixed hydrogen fuel cell power plant technology to its manufacturing facilities and data centers worldwide in the next few years, and to promote this zero-emission backup energy solution with partners.
