According to industry insiders, Sony Group Chairman and CEO Kenichiro Yoshida will visit Samsung Electronics Pingze Park on the 6th and meet with Samsung Electronics DS (Semiconductor) department head Qing Guixian. It has been revealed that a total of five to six executives from both sides will participate in the private meeting and are expected to discuss specific plans for semiconductor supply and related cooperation.

According to reports, after the trip to Pingze Park, the two sides will also go to Samsung Electronics Tian'an and Wenyang Park, which is responsible for semiconductor packaging. The industry speculates that the conference may mention cooperation related to ultra-precision wafer manufacturing or image sensors.

Samsung Electronics plans to expand its automotive semiconductor production to 4nm, while Sony will enter the electric car market through the new company Sony Mobility, and Sony's image sensor factory will supply more than just mobile phones. In addition, Sony announced plans to expand the supply of image sensors for cars and mobile devices by expanding its plant.

As we all know, in the field of image processing technology, CMOS chip has largely replaced the traditional CCD chip. With the development of more modern chip technology in recent years, Sony and Samsung, as one of the largest CMOS chip manufacturers, are also playing a more and more important role, in addition to cameras, video production equipment, drones and other consumer equipment, but also involved in the industrial and security fields.

In 2014, Sony developed a car camera sensor that can improve light sensitivity. Such sensors have been in mass production since 2015 and have been assembled in new cars launched by big auto companies in 2016. At this point, Sony has entered the car image sensor for nearly a decade.
