CTOnews.com, March 4 (Xinhua)-- Universal Hydrogen completed its first test flight of a hydrogen-powered plane with 40 passengers a few weeks after it received experimental airworthiness certification from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).
The hydrogen-powered plane took off from Grant County, Washington, at 08:41 PST, flew for 15 minutes and landed successfully, according to an official Universal Hydrogen press release.
The hydrogen-powered aircraft is equipped with two engines, one of which is Universal Hydrogen's fuel cell electric power system, and the other is a traditional engine. The flight was tested by former US Air Force test pilot Alex Kroll (Alex Kroll).
Kroll spoke of the confidence gained during the flight: "in the second lap over the airport, we were satisfied with the performance of the hydrogen power system." at this time, we use less fossil fuel turbine engines and rely mainly on hydrogen power for cruise. the aircraft has an excellent handling experience, and the noise and vibration of the fuel cell powertrain is significantly lower than that of conventional turbine engines.
