CTOnews.com, March 4 (Xinhua)-- NASA recently shared a picture of the "jellyfish galaxy" (jellyfish galaxy) taken by the Hubble Space Telescope. The galaxy, called JO201, is located in the constellation Cetaceus and is named after the sea monster in ancient Greek mythology and lies 700 million light-years from Earth.

CTOnews.com learned from the report that the photo was taken by Wide Field Camera 3 (WFC3) of the Hubble Space Telescope, which was installed during Hubble's fourth maintenance. It has a wider field of vision than previous generations and provides a higher resolution, mainly shooting images of ultraviolet and visible wavelengths.

A jellyfish galaxy dragging star antennae hangs in the dark. These blue tendrils float beneath the galaxy's core, giving it a jellyfish-like appearance. As the jellyfish galaxy passes through intergalactic space, the gas is slowly stripped off to form a tendril-like trajectory, illuminated by clumps of stars.
