Thanks to CTOnews.com netizens Wu Yanzu in South China for the delivery of clues! CTOnews.com March 4, a number of revelations indicate that Apple iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max will make some design changes, and the volume control on the side of the device may be a solid-state uniform or a single button.

YouTube blogger ZoneOfTech pointed out on Twitter that Apple usually uses two pins to connect a single button to the bottom shelf, but in the latest rendering based on leaked iPhone 15 Pro CAD drawings, only two pins are shown in the single notch where the volume button is usually located. In contrast, the CAD-based iPhone 15 standard rendering shows two separate slots with a total of four pins.

In the process of building the iPhone 15 Pro concept machine based on the leaked CAD, ZoneOfTech has been "100% sure" that the iPhone 15 Pro will be equipped with a long and uniform volume button instead of two separate buttons. In addition, ZoneOfTech also determined that "the mute switch will also be replaced with a single button, rather than the current up and down switch."

It has been rumored that Apple is using solid-state buttons with tactile feedback for the power and volume control of the upcoming iPhone 15 Pro model, and it is starting to look like an all-in-one solid-state volume button that will detect the top ("up") and bottom ("down") ends, and the tactile mute button will replace the classic switch.

It is not clear how the new tactile buttons will work through the shell, especially if they require direct touch. Similarly, in cases where iPhone may not work as expected, a solution is needed to accommodate device recovery. On the plus side, solid-state button technology can improve dustproof and waterproof because it does not require a physical pressing mechanism, but it does require additional hardware support within iPhone. Similar to the touch-and-press Home buttons introduced from iPhone 7.

Sources say Apple will add two additional Taptic Engines to the iPhone 15 Pro model to support solid-state buttons (CTOnews.com Note: currently there is only one Taptic Engine for tactile feedback in the iPhone model), while the iPhone 15 standard model is expected to retain physical mechanical buttons.

The original iPhone phone had an externally unified volume key, or a long button with protruding ends. This button design remains on iPhone 3G and iPhone 3GS. For iPhone 4, the long button was replaced by two round buttons, which eventually became longer, independent pill buttons on the iPhone 6 series. The variation of the pill shape continues all the way to the iPhone 14 series of phones.

9to5Mac quotes a source as confirming that the iPhone 15 Pro will be equipped with a uniform volume button and a "press" mute button-rather than a paragraph switch.

According to the leaked rendering, the most significant change in the new iPhone 15 series this year is the switch from the Lightning port to USB-C, which will mark a significant difference from the Apple proprietary connectors that have been used in iPhone and most Apple accessories since 2012.

The iPhone 15 series will feature a new design with slightly curved edges, a larger camera bulge and a narrower display frame. Apple will retain the same four sizes in the current iPhone 14 series for the new model. However, iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus will abandon bangs and use Smart Island instead.
