CTOnews.com March 4 news, in the latest report of market research firm IDC, due to the global economic downturn and overstock orders, PC workstations fell by 22.2% in the fourth quarter of 2022 compared with the same period last year.

PC workstations shipped 7.7 million units in 2022, breaking the record of 7.5 million set in 2021 and an increase of 2.1 per cent year-on-year.

Jay Chou, global manager of client device tracking research, commented on the comment. CTOnews.com translated as follows:

From the third quarter of 2021 to the second quarter of 2022, PC workstations shipped more than 2 million units for four consecutive quarters.

This is much higher than the historical standard, but the situation has proved unsustainable in the face of budget tightening and persistent inflation.

After two years of strong procurement, we expect corporate IT to slow procurement and forecast a 4.2 per cent decline in sales in 2023.

This is slightly different from our previous forecast, which expects the contraction to be milder. However, in addition to short-term challenges, we believe that the release of new models, the transition of Windows 11 and other drivers should lead to growth in 2024.
