Mechanical hard drives (HDD) still have a place in markets that require mass storage, such as data centers, but that seems to be about to change soon.

In an interview with Blocks & Files, Pure Storage, a company that makes all-flash array (AFA) SSD based on DirectFlash modules (DFM), said it would launch 300TB NVMe SSD by 2025-2026.

Alex McMullan, Pure Storage CTO, shared a chart showing the company's roadmap for DFM capacity expansion over the next four years, which will soar in the next two or three years, with the goal of reaching 300TB by 2026 or even 2025.

CTOnews.com query found that in addition to 300TB SSD, the company has announced plans to release SSD with 100TB and 200TB capacity. Nimbus Data's DC series 100TB ExaDrive is already available for orderable at about $40000 (currently about 276000 yuan).
