So far, Guangzhou has built 400 substations with 110 kV voltage level and above, becoming the first provincial capital city with 400 public substations in China.

According to introduction, Kebei Substation is the first 500kV substation with near zero energy consumption in China, the first comprehensive independent controllable demonstration substation with the highest voltage level, and also the first demonstration station for security upgrading of China Southern Power Grid Corporation.

CTOnews.com learned from the official information released by Guangzhou Power Supply Bureau that the main building of Kebei Substation adopts all-steel structure and prefabricated construction technology, which can meet the high seismic demand, save building space and save 50% construction time compared with traditional methods.

About 3000 square meters of photovoltaic panels are installed on the roof of the substation, with an annual power generation of about 300,000 kWh, which can meet the power demand of office and living areas in Kebei Station. The station also uses light-guide non-electric lighting technology, making full use of natural lighting, saving electricity about 3000 kilowatt hours a year. Through the application of technical measures such as building energy conservation and equipment energy conservation, Kebei Substation has met the requirements of the National Technical Standard for Buildings with Near Zero Energy Consumption (GB / T51350-2019), achieved the goal of "near zero energy consumption," and became the first 500 kV substation with near zero energy consumption in China.
