CTOnews.com March 3 news, Kia announced that starting from 2023, Kia will gradually launch a series of pure electric products in the Chinese market. It is planned that by 2027, Kia will introduce six electric models based on Kia E-GMP platform to build a complete electric vehicle product matrix.

In the global new energy vehicle market, Kia sold 487000 electric vehicles (including hybrid, plug-in hybrid and pure electric models) in 2022, up 54.8 per cent from a year earlier.

This year, Kia will launch two pure electric models, the EV6 and the EV5, in China.

As the first model developed by Kia electrified E-GMP platform, the EV6 has a maximum mileage of 600km (CTOnews.com NEDC standard, which is also adopted by China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology). It is equipped with 800V fast charging technology, and it takes only 18 minutes to charge electricity from 10% to 80%. The EV6 GT model accelerates for 100 kilometers in 3.5 seconds.

The EV5 is a strategic model that Kia plans to launch in China and export around the world.

Hyundai Motor Group, which belongs to Kia, has a total global sales of 6848198 vehicles in 2022, making it the third largest automobile group in the world after Toyota and Volkswagen. Hyundai pure electric vehicles IONIQ 5 and IONIQ 6 sold more than 100, 000 cars worldwide in 2022.
