CTOnews.com March 2, Apple announced today that it will invest an additional 1 billion euros (CTOnews.com Note: about 7.33 billion yuan) in German engineering over the next six years as part of its plan to expand its silicon design center in central Munich, Germany.

Apple said the investment would be used to design and build a "state-of-the-art research facility" at Seidlstrasse, where Apple's R & D team can "come together in new ways to enhance collaboration and innovation". "our R & D team in Munich is crucial for us to develop products that are more performance, more efficient and more energy-efficient." "the expansion of the European Silicon Design Center will enable our more than 2000 engineers working in Bavaria to work more closely together to create breakthrough innovations, including custom silicon chip designs, power management chips and future wireless technologies," said Johny Srouji, Apple's senior vice president of hardware technology.

In addition to Apple's new Seidlstrasse facilities, the Silicon Design Center expansion plan includes several additional R & D spaces in Denisstrasse and Marsstrasse. All three new locations are opposite Apple's recently opened Karlstrasse research and development facility. Together with the Arnulfstrasse and Hackerbr ü cke engineering sites, these new facilities form Apple's European Silicon Design Center and occupy a central position in the Maxvorstadt community in downtown Munich.

The announcement builds on Apple's previous commitment of 1 billion euros from 2021, when it identified Munich as its headquarters for the European Silicon Design Center.

Apple says it has spent more than 18 billion euros nationwide in partnership with more than 800 German companies over the past five years and has promoted job creation, community development and labor opportunities.
