CTOnews.com, March 2 (Xinhua)-- Amazon's cloud computing division plans to invest $6 billion in Malaysia by 2037 to launch cloud computing infrastructure in the Southeast Asian country, according to the Wall Street Journal. (CTOnews.com Note: about 41.22 billion yuan)

On Wednesday, local time, Amazon AWS said it plans to build an infrastructure area in Malaysia, including three so-called availability zones, namely data center clusters. At present, AWS has 99 such availability zones worldwide.

Amazon said the move would enable customers to store data securely in Malaysia and meet demand for cloud services across Southeast Asia.

According to financial data, Amazon's net sales in the fourth quarter of 2022 were $149.204 billion (currently about 1.03 trillion yuan), up 9% from a year earlier, and 12% year-on-year, excluding exchange rate changes. Net profit was $278 million (about 1.91 billion yuan), down 98% from a year earlier.
