CTOnews.com, March 2 (Xinhua)-- the European Commission announced on its website on Wednesday that the review period for Microsoft's $69 billion acquisition of Activision Blizzard was extended to April 25.

The European Commission is one of the main regulators of the Activision Blizzard acquisition. The agency recently issued a statement to Microsoft worried that the deal could be detrimental to competition in the gaming industry.

The EU had expected to complete the review by April 11, but the agency announced a two-week extension. CTOnews.com learned from the report that Margrethe Vestager, the EU competition commissioner, had previously stressed that agencies would not make hasty decisions on such acquisitions.
