Shulou(Shulou.com)11/24 Report--
Huawei advocates the industry to work together to promote industrial consensus and commercial deployment in the 5.5G era and accelerate the move towards a smart world at the summit held in MWC23 Barcelona today.
Yang Chaobin, senior vice president of Huawei and president of ICT products and solutions, said: "with the rapid development of 5G, the new business needs are more diversified and complicated, which puts forward higher requirements for 5G network capabilities. 5.5G is the only way for the next upgrade and evolution of 5G network, which has formed a consensus in the industry and is the development trend of deterministic industry. With the clear rhythm of 5.5G (5G-Advanced), F5.5G (F5G-Advanced) and Net5.5G standards, clear spectrum strategy, and verification of key technologies and various application scenarios, the steady progress of industry consensus will certainly promote the accelerated arrival of 5.5G network commercial use, and the tenfold improvement of network capacity will trigger Qianhang Baiye to release more powerful digital productivity.
Yang Chaobin, senior vice president of Huawei and president of ICT products and solutions, delivered a keynote speech on "stepping into the 5.5G era hand in hand".
"5.5G" has formed an industry consensus and become a deterministic development trend.
Yang Chaobin said that at present, 6G is still in the early stage of research, so 5.5G is the only way for the next upgrade and evolution of 5G network, for which the industry is accelerating to form a consensus. For the development of 5.5G industry, we need to join hands with the whole industry to promote it from four aspects:
First, the rhythm of the industry standard is clear: 5.5G has started the process of standardization. 5.5G technical specifications will be defined through the three versions of 3GPP Release18, Release19 and Release20, which will continue to enrich the technical connotation of 5.5G, and the version of Release18 will be frozen in H1 in 2024; F5.5G has landed the standard design from the industry initiative. ETSI released the white paper of F5G Advanced in September last year, and the first standard version of F5.5G, Release3, will be frozen in 2024. IETF and IEEE also comprehensively carry out the first phase of Net5.5G related standards work such as SRv6, Wi-Fi 7, 800GE, etc., and the relevant standards will be fully released in 2024.
Second, the spectrum resource strategy is clear: spectrum resources are the cornerstone of wireless networks, and the 5.5G industry jointly promotes Sub 100GHz spectrum towards NR: on the one hand, the current stock spectrum gradually moves towards 5.5G through spectrum re-ploughing and on-demand integration; on the other hand, it jointly promotes the commercial use of millimeter wave and U6GHz super-bandwidth spectrum to provide resource guarantee for 5.5G.
Third, the industry consensus is advancing steadily: 5.5G has formed a broad consensus in the industry, and the world's leading operators actively promote the formulation of 5.5G standards and the verification of technological innovation. During this exhibition, GSMA led the industrial partners to form 5.5g Community,WBBA (World Broadband Association), which was officially established in 2022 and issued the Next Generation Broadband Roadmap white paper for F5.5G. OMDIA released the Net5.5G white paper in September last year, aligning the industrial goals in terms of technology evolution, application scenarios, industrial ecology, etc., to align the industrial pace and speed up the commercial process.
Fourth, smooth evolution to protect investment: 5.5G will realize the on-demand integration of existing resources in 5G network through key technologies such as stock spectrum re-ploughing and equipment multimode reuse, gradually evolve smoothly to 5.5G, and fully protect the existing investment of operators.
Key technologies continue to mature and application scenarios are verified by keeping the 5.5G era within reach
Yang Chaobin said that with the joint efforts of the industry, breakthroughs have been made in a number of key technologies of 5.5G. Innovative technologies such as very large scale Antenna Array (ELAA) and Virtual large Carrier Reconstruction of discontinuous Spectrum (MBSC) of wireless networks have been verified by many operators around the world, bringing 5.5 G 10 Gigabit capabilities to reality. In the F5.5G fixed network, 50G PON has been standardized by ITU-T into the next generation PON. The key technologies such as uplink and downlink symmetry and multi-mode integration are becoming more and more mature, which lays the foundation for the smooth upgrade and evolution of F5G to F5.5G. The development of 5.5g / F5.5G drives IP network upgrade and turns on Net5.5G. Net5.5G continues to enhance in the ultra-wide 800GE, end-to-end IPv6+, intelligence, security, delay and other aspects, bringing new capabilities, new products and new opportunities for operators, stimulating the sustained growth of operators.
5G business has entered a period of rapid development in the past three years. By the end of 2022, the number of global 5G users has exceeded 1 billion, the number of gigabit broadband users has reached 100 million, and there are more than 20,000 applications in the 5G industry. The new business demand and innovation put forward higher requirements for 5G network capacity. In terms of personal business, with the gradual maturity of immersive services such as XR and holographic communications, the connection experience has changed from gigabit 1Gbps to 10Gbps. In the application field of the Internet of things, the explosive growth of the application of the Internet of things is a deterministic trend. Take China as an example, the total number of Internet of things connections has exceeded the total number of human connections in 2022. Industry digitization has gradually penetrated into the core production system, and more abundant scenarios and requirements have emerged, such as 5G + cloud + AI fusion application scenarios such as high-precision industrial vision AI inspection, mine remote control and autopilot, and put forward 1Gbps requirements for 5G network uplink bandwidth.
The 2023 World Mobile Congress will be held in Barcelona, Spain, from February 27 to March 2. Huawei Pavilion is located in the 1H50 area of Hall 1 of Fira Gran Via. Huawei, together with global operators, industry elites and opinion leaders, deeply discussed hot topics such as 5G business success, 5.5G new opportunities, green development and digital transformation, and used GUIDE business blueprint to move from a prosperous 5G era to a more prosperous 5.5G era.
