At the MWC 2023 site, MediaTek demonstrated the groundbreaking 3GPP 5G non-terrestrial network (NTN) technology to provide two-way satellite communication application support for devices such as smartphones. At the same time, MediaTek and Bullitt are the first to launch commercial smartphones using 3GPP NTN technology around the world: Motorola defy 2 and CAT S75.

It is reported that both phones use MediaTek MT6825 3GPP NTN chipsets and support Bullitt satellite communication services, which can provide global users with functions such as two-way satellite communication information transmission, location sharing and emergency SOS call for help, so that users can keep in touch in remote areas or areas without mobile network connection such as on board.

MediaTek also shared the next generation of 5G non-terrestrial network technology to meet the new devices that support satellite communications in the future. The upcoming NR-NTN chipset will provide higher connection rates for devices and are suitable for applications such as navigation and real-time communications.

In addition, MediaTek exhibited a variety of folding screen smartphones, including OPPO Find N2 Flip and Tecno PHANTOM V Fold folding screen phones with Tianji 9000 + mobile platform. In the tablet display area, the OnePlus Pad and Lenovo Tab Extreme tablets using Tianji 9000 mobile platform were unveiled at the exhibition together.

Not long ago, the Tianji 7000 series and its first chip, Tianji 7200, also came to the exhibition. It is reported that the terminal using the Tianji 7200 mobile platform is expected to be available in the first quarter of 2023.

On the spot, MediaTek also worked with Ericsson to demonstrate the use of 5G millimeter wave beam technology to improve the performance and stability of the connection, as well as the millimeter wave 5G UltraSave power-saving technology based on the German Technology 5G network simulation solution.

In addition to the rich product portfolio, technology research and development and cooperation achievements in 5G, MediaTek's products and technologies in the fields of wireless connection, Internet of things, intelligent TV and so on have also appeared on the stage.
