CTOnews.com March 1, the latest Canalys data show that in the fourth quarter of 2022, global shipments of personal smart audio devices fell 26% to 110 million units. Shipments of all categories are facing a different downward trend, and even the TWS category, which has been supporting the market, suffered a 23% double-digit decline to 79 million units.

Canalys said that the top five TWS manufacturers, with the exception of OPPO, have suffered different declines. Although Apple suffered a 30 per cent decline, mainly due to a large shipping base that delayed the release of new headphones in the fourth quarter of last year, it still relied on the strong performance of its AirPods Pro II to help Apple maintain its first market share this year.

Samsung (including Harman subsidiaries) is still in second place, but its shipments are down 24%. Despite the launch of the new Galaxy Buds2 Pro last quarter, shipments are still dominated by Galaxy Buds2.

Xiaomi ranked third, down 49 per cent from a year earlier. After streamlining its product line, Xiaomi is now focused on strengthening the middle and low end of the market through the red rice series, while its Xiaomi series has not yet been rolled out.

BoAt, a local manufacturer, ranks fourth with a market share of 4 per cent, but its growth rate fell by 15 per cent year-on-year for the first time, reflecting the current peak of demand in the Indian market.

OPPO (including one plus) ranks fifth with a market share of 3 per cent, mainly helped by the excellent performance of its sub-brand one plus in India.

In the domestic market, CTOnews.com learned from Canalys data that the top five TWS shipments in the fourth quarter of 2022 were Apple (19%), Walker (13%), Xiaomi (11%), Huawei (10%) and OPPO (8%).
