CTOnews.com, March 1 (Xinhua)-- in September last year, Tesla launched a compatible Joint charging system (CCS) adapter for North American users, which can help Tesla owners charge in a third-party charging network, but it is not compatible with all vehicles because some old models need to modify the adapter to charge at non-Supercharger sites.

Tesla has now announced the pricing of the CCS retrofit, which will help older models use charging stations that are not part of the Supercharger supercharging network. Tesla owners who are not sure whether their vehicles need to be modified can log in to their Tesla accounts and check for compatibility.

According to Tesla's website, the CCS Combo 1 Adapter Retrofit with Adapter is priced at $450 (CTOnews.com Note: currently about 3123 yuan) and includes a $175 CCS adapter (currently about 1215 yuan), but it is currently only available for Model S and Model X models.

In the past year, Tesla has begun to open its network of supercharging stations to non-Tesla electric vehicles. As a result, a large number of overseas Tesla owners expressed concern, as this will increase the flow of super charging stations, and their cars may not be in line.

Most importantly, this is not two-way, because Tesla could not use other charging stations before, because most of them used CCS connectors. As a result, Tesla announced in November last year that Tesla electric vehicle charging connector design was open to the world, and invited charging network operators and automobile manufacturers to use Tesla charging connector and charging interface on their charging equipment and vehicles, which we call North American charging Standard (NACS).

NACS is the most common charging standard in North America: the number of vehicles using the NACS standard is twice as many as the number of vehicles using the CCS standard, and the number of posts using the NACS standard in Tesla's supercharging network is 60 per cent more than all the charging piles using the CCS standard combined.
