CTOnews.com, March 1, according to the latest CINNO Research data, about 27.66 million smartphones were sold in the Chinese mainland market in January 2023, up 44.6% from December and down 10.4% from a year earlier.

CINNO said that although the year-on-year decline had narrowed, it was still on a downward path, marking the 12th consecutive month of negative year-on-year growth since February last year and the second worst January sales in 2015, only better than the January level in 2015.

CTOnews.com learned from CINNO Research data that sales of Top5 mainstream brands in the domestic smartphone market showed negative growth in January compared with the same period last year, with a decline of 4.2%. In the Android camp, only Xiaomi sales fell less than the overall decline in smartphones, and OPPO / Glory / vivo declined significantly, by 13.5%, 19.2% and 23.5%, respectively. The iPhone brand outperformed the Android camp, with sales down 4.2% from a year earlier.

By brand:

Apple still holds the No. 1 position in China, ranking first in the domestic market with sales of about 4.9 million units, rising to 30.7% month-on-month with 1.31 million iPhones 14 Pro Max.

OPPO ranked second with 4.7 million units, up 38.3% from the previous month.

Glory Market performed steadily, ranking third with sales of about 4.2 million units.

Xiaomi and vivo ranked fourth and fifth respectively, with vivo sales up 62.4% month-on-month.

In terms of market share:

Top5 brand share did not fluctuate much, with Apple's share of 17.6% in January, up 1.1% from a year earlier.

The market share of OPPO was 16.9%, down 0.6% from the same period last year.

Glory share is 15.2%, down 1.7% from the same period last year.

Xiaomi / vivo shares are 15 per cent and 14.5 per cent, respectively.
