By contrast, Apple announced when it launched the product that it could browse the web for 17 hours over the wireless network or watch 20 hours of movies in the Apple TV app.

Apple was tested in May 2022 with a pilot 13-inch MacBook Pro with Apple M2, 8-core CPU, 10-core GPU, 8GB RAM, and 256GB SSD. The battery life is measured by browsing 25 popular websites under the wireless network, and the display brightness is set to 8 clicks from the bottom. In the movie playback test of the Apple TV app, the battery life is measured by playing HD 1080p content, and the display brightness is set to 8 clicks from the bottom. According to reports, the new version of Chrome brings four functional updates:

Reduce unnecessary image redrawing: "We use robots to browse real-world websites and determine document object Model (DOM) change patterns that do not affect screen pixels. We allow Chrome to detect these early and bypass unnecessary styling, layout, painting, raster, and GPU image drawing steps. We have made similar optimizations to the Chrome user interface."

Fine-tuning iframe: "… We have fine-tuned the garbage collection and memory compression of the recently created iframe. This reduces short-term memory usage (does not affect long-term memory usage) and helps reduce power consumption."

Adjust timer / timer: "… Javascript timers still occupy a large part of the power consumption of Web pages.
