CTOnews.com, March 1 (Xinhua)-- Apple has invested $5 billion in a deal with Globalstar, a satellite communications company, in order to build an iPhone 14 series of satellite rescue services. The latest report says Apple has invested another $252 million in the company in the form of a loan (CTOnews.com Note: currently about 1.749 billion yuan).

Apple launched the iPhone 14 series in September last year, providing users with free emergency satellite assistance for two years. In case of emergency, iPhone 14 series owners can use low-Earth orbit satellites to send location and text data in areas not yet covered by the cellular network.

With more than a year to go before the two-year free service, Apple has yet to release details of its fees after expiration. However, given that Apple is investing more in the service, the fee should not be too friendly to the people.
