On the morning of February 27, Beijing time, it was reported that Apple had just adjusted the working hours of retail employees in the United States and Canada.

Over the past year, Apple store employees have expressed concerns about pay, benefits and working hours. To address some of these problems, Apple has adjusted its scheduling plans in the United States and Canada, including working hours requirements for full-time and part-time employees.

The plan was disclosed by the media in June last year, but only some stores were piloted at that time. According to the latest memo email, Apple will extend the new policy to all about 300 stores in the United States and Canada from April 29.

The main changes are as follows:

The maximum number of consecutive working days has been reduced from 6 days to 5 days.

Part-time employees have more weekend breaks.

Full-time employees have regular weekend working days or rest days.

It is important to note that these new rules may not apply to peak shopping seasons (such as during the launch of the new iPhone) or plenary meetings. Other adjustments include changing the time to apply for leave from three weeks to four weeks in advance.

However, some part-time Apple retail employees are still worried about another change that some store managers may implement, which is to work overtime on weekends. They said that although there was no such requirement when they joined Apple, they were likely to be fired if they did not agree to work on weekends.

Other part-time workers also say managers require them to work at least a few more hours a week than before.
