CTOnews.com, February 26, CTOnews.com reported last week that Microsoft injected ads into the download page of Google's Chrome browser in order to promote its Edge browser. Now, foreign media WindowLatest has found several new advertisements to promote Microsoft Edge in Windows 11 Edge 10.

On Windows 11 and 10, Microsoft is now displaying ads on the desktop in an attempt to persuade people to use Edge browsers and provide gift cards for users who do so, another move by Microsoft to increase Edge browser market share.

If you are using Windows 10 or 11 and have enabled the Edge sidebar (experimental feature), you will soon see an automatic pop-up ad on your desktop saying you can get a gift card using the Edge browser.

As the screenshot above shows, Microsoft is on a seven-day challenge to get a gift card if you search using the Edge sidebar for three days in a row. "use the Edge sidebar to search for three days and get an extra 3100 points," the ad wrote.

All of these promotional ads contain the same text as those just appeared in Android and iOS versions of Outlook, in which Microsoft claims that Edge is "built to bring you the best network, and it is the best browser to securely open links sent through Outlook."
