Inflatable accessories to protect motorcyclists in the event of an accident are not new, such as helmets with inflatable accessories that act as buffers and backpack-like straps designed to protect the wearer's back from impact. Swedish startup Mo'cycle 's airbag jeans, made from Armalith denim, look and feel like real denim but are actually waterproof and wear-resistant, with built-in airbags that can be triggered in a motorcycle accident to protect the rider's lower body.

"the use of airbag technology to protect the first bone of the spine is revolutionary because spinal injuries are the main cause of paralysis for motorcyclists, and their special jeans protect the thighs, buttocks and torso back in addition to the tailbone," Mo'cycle said. "like ordinary motorcycle pants, they are equipped with protective knee pads."

An important feature of Mo'cycle airbag jeans is that they can be reused. Even if the airbags do explode, they can be deflated and connected to the new compressed air tank. The trigger of the airbag needs to be connected to the motorcycle so that when the rider falls off the bike, the trigger will detach from the jeans and the airbag will burst.

If you're worried about accidentally activating the airbag by forgetting to remove the trigger from the motorcycle, don't worry, Mo'cycle claims that the trigger requires at least 88 pounds of force to release, which means falling off the bike is the only way to activate the airbag.

The airbag jeans will go on sale this month, starting at $499.
