Panasonic Holdings has announced that it will start selling zero-emission pure hydrogen fuel cell generators to Chinese companies in April, according to Nikkei Asia News and Kyodo News.

Panasonic is said to have pushed for the introduction of the fuel cell at Qinghai FLAG in the Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic Village, which is intended to serve as an example for Chinese companies to introduce and promote to Chinese urban development.

The Panasonic battery plant in Wuxi, Jiangsu province, launched the fuel cell equipment on the 24th. Tang Yimao, president of Panasonic China Northeast Asia, expressed his intention to explore cooperation with fuel cell vehicle (FCV) hydrogen stations, etc., to popularize the battery, hoping to fully explore the global demand for 24-hour alternatives to solar panels in factories and offices.

The company has also set a goal of reducing global emissions by 300 million tons of carbon dioxide by 2050. Tetsuro Moto, Panasonic's general representative for northeast Asia and Panasonic's vice president, stressed at the ceremony that "activities in China are essential to achieving [the goal]."

Panasonic has previously built Panasonic's first hydrogen fuel cell comprehensive energy utilization project in China at the Wuxi plant, which provides green energy by building a fuel cell system and applying it to factory production and life. According to reports, the demonstration project uses Panasonic's new 5KW pure hydrogen fuel cell product launched in October 2021, based on which the fuel cell system is built.

Hydrogen fuel cell generates electricity through the chemical reaction of hydrogen and oxygen, generates heat while generating electricity, and does not produce carbon dioxide in the reaction process, so it is a very ideal clean energy. After the completion of the hydrogen fuel cell system, it will supply power and heating to the Wuxi plant. On this basis, combined with Panasonic refrigeration technology, it provides energy for factory refrigeration in summer and direct heating in winter, so as to improve energy efficiency and give full play to the maximum capacity of fuel cells.
