This is because Microsoft has officially added Defender applications to Microsoft 365 programs. So, if you subscribe to a personal (or home) Microsoft 365 app, Windows will automatically install the app for you, just like Word or Excel.

Microsoft said that from late February 2023, Microsoft Defender applications will be included in the Microsoft 365 installer. This means that when you install Microsoft applications on Windows devices, the system will automatically install Microsoft Defender applications and other applications for you.

If you have a valid Microsoft 365 subscription and have installed the Microsoft 365 application, the Microsoft Defender application will be installed automatically with the next update. All you have to do is launch it from the start menu and log in using your personal Microsoft account for Microsoft 365.

If you do not subscribe to Microsoft 365 and want to try the new Microsoft Defender application, you can install it manually by following the steps below in CTOnews.com:

Open Microsoft Defender in Microsoft Store and select get. (note: Microsoft Defender is not currently supported on ARM-based devices)

After installation, log in using a personal Microsoft account (such as @ outlook.com, @ hotmail.com, or @ live.com).

If you are a Microsoft 365 Home Edition subscriber, you can also decide whether or not to share your security status with the home organizer after logging in. Simply put, a home organizer is a person who subscribes to the Microsoft Home Edition, or any other family member that the user chooses.

Sharing security status makes it easier for home organizers to help secure devices and identities. Microsoft says it only shares security and identity threat monitoring information from Defender, not any other information about your device or any of your personal files.

After completing this process, you can go to the Microsoft Defender dashboard and complete all the settings.
