On the occasion of early spring, with the theme of "encouraging the New to build together", the 2023 Intel China Strategy Media Communication Conference was held today. This is the first time that Intel China has systematically expounded the 2.0 China strategy and progress after Intel China entered the 2.0 stage. In order to promote digital innovation, build an open ecology, practice sustainable development, and promote the improvement of science and technology, Intel China hopes to work with partners to create a better digital future.

Take root in China, serve China and achieve common development

Wang Rui, senior vice president of Intel and chairman of Intel China, said that Intel has always adhered to the concept of rooted in China and serving China to promote common development. In the semiconductor and computing industry, Intel has been in the "front line" to perceive the growth of China's digital economy, and to see the "quantity" and "quality" of the digital economy fly together. Data from the National Development and Reform Commission show that China's digital economy has ranked second in the world for many years in a row, and new business models, application scenarios and growth momentum continue to emerge, driving the high-quality development of China's economy.

Wang Rui, senior vice president of Intel and chairman of Intel China, delivered a speech.

"as the digital economy continues to grow, the semiconductor and computing industries are playing a more and more important role," Wang Rui said. In the process of high-quality development in China, digitization and greening are like two-wheel drive, echoing and promoting each other. A better future world cannot be built without digitization and greening, which are supported by the semiconductor and computing industries.

"China's economy is booming in 2023," Mr Wang said. "We are full of confidence in the future of the digital economy. With the upgrading of Intel's China strategy, we will go deeper into the mainland with stronger leadership and more integrated local operations, and create value for customers, industry and society."

But the industry demand is real, promoting digital innovation and green computing.

At present, the needs of digital industrialization and industrial digitization are constantly upgrading and more diverse. Intel China promotes digital innovation to meet the needs of customers and industries, and promotes the deep integration of the digital economy and the real economy.

Guo Wei, general manager of Intel China Internet of things and Channel data Center, delivered a speech.

Intel has joined hands with more than 150 industrial partners to launch data-centric software and hardware solutions for retail, industrial, transportation, financial, health, energy, education and many other vertical sectors, based on industry demand, from cloud to end layout of the computing product portfolio. Take the automobile industry as an example, based on the profound technology accumulation and professional engineer team, Intel is discussing and exchanging technology solutions with local automakers to continue to promote local innovation. In addition, Intel Super Cloud Terminal solution helps solve the problem of enterprise centralized management, and provides enterprise users with a future computing architecture that automatically balances cloud, edge and end computing power, and schedules flexibly while maintaining personality.

The double transformation of "digital × green" is the main line of scientific and technological development at present. In order to better promote the digitization process of Qianhang Baiye, Intel promotes green development from cloud to end. For example, Intel has joined hands with 20 ICT industry partners and industry users in various fields to build a green data center technology innovation forum to accelerate the green transformation of the data center operation model. In addition, with the concept of "cradle to cradle", the prototype of green and low-carbon computers has been successfully launched through 14 breakthroughs and innovations in four key links throughout the life cycle of PC products (specific results include: the carbon emissions of the use link are reduced by about 67%, and the total recoverable rate is more than 90%, etc.).

Intel also works closely with third-party partners in the industry-university-research community to promote green computing. For example, Intel, together with the Intelligent Industry Research Institute of Tsinghua University, will carry out research in the field of green computing in the data center, and will develop system solutions to form a landing business model and further expand industrial opportunities. Neural mimicry computing can continuously self-learn under the condition of low power consumption and a small amount of training data, and greatly improve the energy efficiency. Intel neuromimicry research community has more than 180 members. Partners in China include Peking University, Fudan University, Pengcheng Laboratory, Institute of Automation of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Lenovo and so on.

Encourage new underlying technologies and promote opening up and cooperation

As the cornerstone of the digital future, the semiconductor industry is currently in a period of adjustment, but according to McKinsey and other institutions, the global semiconductor market will reach $1 trillion by 2030. Intel is based on long-term confidence to implement the IDM 2.0 strategy, strengthen implementation, and constantly deepen the transformation.

Song Jiqiang, vice president of Intel Research Institute and director of Intel Research Institute in China, delivered a speech.

As a semiconductor company, Intel insists on promoting underlying technological innovation and unleashing computing potential to meet the computing needs of the digital future. For example, in terms of process technology, Intel strives to regain its leading position in process technology in 2025 according to four years and five nodes; in packaging technology, 2.5D packaging technology EMIB has been applied to mass production products, and 3D packaging technology has been continuously explored to further increase the number of transistors in a single device. In the research of cutting-edge components, recent advances include the latest hybrid bonding research, which minimizes the interconnection spacing to 3 microns, achieves interconnection density and bandwidth similar to that of monolithic system-on-chip connections, and improves power density and performance by 10 times.

At the same time, Intel is committed to architectural innovation to enhance its competitive advantage. Intel processors have moved from monolithic architecture design to distributed design. A successful example is the recently released fourth-generation Intel Xeon processor, which integrates four units on one package and adopts EMIB advanced packaging technology. Intel is also expanding its product layout and potential market size, such as consumer standalone graphics cards and data center GPU products.

In addition, Intel uses its expertise in large-scale manufacturing to provide system-level contract manufacturing services, including wafer manufacturing, packaging, core and software, bringing new possibilities to chip manufacturing to meet the needs of a diversified market. At present, seven of the ten largest customers in the world that need wafer foundry are actively exploring cooperation with Intel.

Li Ying, vice president of Intel and general manager of Intel Software Ecology Department in China, delivered a speech.

Open cooperation is the core of Intel IDM 2.0 strategy. "Water conservancy without contention" is Intel's concept of building an open ecology. In the field of software, for example, Intel has 19000 software engineers who have participated in more than 100 open source projects and contributed, managed and maintained more than 300 communities. Intel is the largest contributor to Linux Kernel and a core member of more than 700 standardization organizations.

In order to further promote the open source software ecology and serve Chinese developers more professionally and efficiently, the Intel China Open Source Technology Committee was formally established to lead technological trends, build prosperous communities, promote the software industry, and foster innovative projects.

Fulfill social responsibility and build a better future together

With the aim of "creating world-changing technology for the benefit of everyone on earth", Intel is committed to bringing positive impact to the world and bringing a better life to people all over the world through innovative technology. Intel has issued corporate social responsibility reports regularly for 28 years.

Zhou Bing, vice president of Intel and general manager of corporate affairs in Intel China, delivered a speech.

Among them, Intel adopts a three-pronged approach in implementing sustainable development, including production and operation, technical products, industrial linkage and so on. Intel has pledged to achieve net zero greenhouse gas emissions by its own operations by 2040; from 2020 to 2021, Intel China saved nearly 22 million kilowatt-hours of electricity annually, and the recycling rate of harmless waste at Intel's Chengdu plant exceeded 97%; by 2030, Intel is committed to improving the energy efficiency of client and server microprocessors tenfold. Intel also promotes the establishment of green and low-carbon industry alliances and promotes the formulation of green standards.

Technology has a profound impact on human well-being, Intel is well aware of its mission is to give back to society through technology, to promote Tech for Good. For example, Intel has always supported the development of education in China from the educational projects that began in the 1990s, to the collaborative training of engineering and innovative talents, and then to the collaborative training of digital talents. Intel's "Digital capacity Building Program" was officially launched in China in 2021, in which the digital ability training program for young people in secondary education has been attended by teachers and students from 12 provincial administrative regions. The future digital builder training program for universities and vocational education has been attended by teachers and students from more than 30 provincial administrative regions.

In 2023, Intel will implement the company's IDM 2.0 strategy and Intel China 2.0 strategy with stronger executive power, with the concept of rooted in and serving China, create greater value for customers and ecological partners, further promote the coordinated development of digitization and greening, and play a more role in the high-quality development of the digital economy.
