February 24 news, according to foreign media reports, in order to enhance the competitiveness of the semiconductor industry, South Korea has agreed to invest 222.9 billion won (CTOnews.com Note: about 1.186 billion yuan) in the next 10 years to train top semiconductor talents.

South Korea's multi-party agreement to invest in the training of semiconductor talents was disclosed by South Korea's Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy on Thursday.

According to the announcement, the South Korean Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, Samsung Electronics, SK Hynix and the Korea Semiconductor Industry Association have signed a memorandum of understanding, agreeing to invest 222.9 billion won in a number of R & D projects from this year to 2032.

Specific talent training programs will be jointly led by chip manufacturers and universities, which hope to train at least 2365 semiconductor talents with master's degrees or above in the next 10 years.

Semiconductors are one of South Korea's dominant industries, especially memory chips. Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix occupy a considerable share of the global memory chip market. Semiconductors are also South Korea's important export products, accounting for about 20% of South Korea's exports.

South Korea has agreed to invest money to train semiconductor talents, mainly to maintain their competitiveness in the semiconductor industry and to provide talent support for the development of the semiconductor industry. In the face of increased competition in the global chip industry and a shortage of talent, South Korea has also been providing support for the chip industry.
