CTOnews.com, February 23 (Xinhua)-- Apple began testing its iOS 16.5 system internally this month, based on growing evidence of updates in the MacRumors website analysis log. IOS 16.5 may be one of Apple's last major updates before announcing iOS 17 on WWDC23 in June.

It is not clear what features will be introduced in iOS 16.5, but some previously announced features are still waiting, including Apple Card savings accounts, Apple Music Classical Classical applications, and iMessage contact key authentication security options. Apple Pay Later is also about to be launched, but is expected to be enabled through server-side updates.

As for iOS 17, Bloomberg Mark Gurman said recently that he had not heard of "anything specifically changing the rules of the game" planned for iPhone, meaning it would not change much, but that the update would take a long time to come.

IOS 17 will be introduced into Apple's next-generation CarPlay, which will provide deeper integration with vehicle features such as A / C and FM radios, support for multiple displays on the dashboard, and increased personalization. Apple said the first cars with the next CarPlay will be released at the end of 2023, with promised brands including Acura, Audi, Ford, Honda, Mercedes-Benz, Nissan, Porsche and Volvo.

According to the requirements of the Digital Market Act, iOS 17 is also expected to launch alternative app stores in Europe. Gurman has previously said that the change will be implemented as part of an updated version of iOS 17 in mid-2024.

At the same time, Apple has offered its first iOS16.4 Beta to developers and public testers. The update includes a series of new emoticons, support for Web push notifications, podcast application improvements, and more.

Apple's WWDC (CTOnews.com Worldwide Developers Conference) is usually held in early June. Apple will also unveil macOS14, watchOS10, tvOS17 at a week-long developer conference, and there may be realityOS / xrOS for Apple's AR / VR headsets this year.
