CTOnews.com, Feb. 23, according to Business Korea, Apple has ordered OLED panels from LG displays and Samsung for its next-generation iPad Pro models, which are widely expected to be available in 2024.

According to the report, Apple placed orders with the two display companies for the development of 10.9-inch and 12.9-inch OLED panels, while rival BOE was excluded. Korean display manufacturers plan to produce OLED panels for iPad on their current sixth-generation (1500mm x 1850mm) production lines.

According to South Korea's Economic Daily, Apple has not yet finalized the order for the OLED display of the iPad Pro, but may divide the order equally between the two South Korean factories.

Display analyst Ross Young said Apple is developing 11.1-inch and 13-inch OLED iPad Pro models, which will be launched in the first quarter of 2024.

Previous reports have indicated that Apple plans to provide larger 11.1in and 13in screen sizes for the OLED iPad Pro model, and may shrink the frame rather than changing the device size as a whole.

CTOnews.com learned from its website that Apple is currently selling a 12.9-inch mini-LED iPad Pro and an 11-inch iPad Pro,mini-LED with a traditional LCD display reserved for the higher-end iPad Pro model. With the 2024 iPad Pro update, Apple may restore feature parity between the two iPad Pro models.

Apple also plans to launch a new MacBook model with an OLED display. Two reports today indicate that the new OLED 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models will be available in 2026. However, Bloomberg Mark Gurman has previously said that a new MacBook Pro with an OLED display will be available in 2025, which could also be the first Mac with a touchscreen.

In addition, Ross Young said Apple is preparing to launch a 13-inch MacBookAir with an OLED display as early as next year, when the OLED iPad Pro model is expected to go on sale. Guo Mingyi, an analyst at Tianfeng International, also expects Apple's first MacBook with an OLED display to be launched next year, but did not specify the model or size.
