CTOnews.com, February 23 (Xinhua)-- according to statistics released by market research firm Counterpoint, Apple Apple Watch will dominate the smartwatch market in 2022. Its shipments account for 34.1%, and total revenue accounts for 60%.

In Counterpoint's third-quarter 2022 report last November, Apple Watch shipped more than half of global smartwatch shipments in that quarter, at 50.6 per cent. While Apple Watch grew strongly in the first three quarters of last year, smartwatch shipments fell 3 per cent in the fourth quarter compared with the same period a year earlier.

"this is the first negative growth in the market in eight quarters since the 2020 pandemic swept the world," Counterpoint analysts reported. Counterpoint attributed the decline to "inflationary pressures and slowing growth in India".

Counterpoint estimates that strong sales mean that Apple Watch's shipments in 2022 are 17% higher than in 2021, further widening the gap with Samsung, which ranks second. Samsung's shipments grew by about 12% year-on-year in 2022, and the company has a market share of about 10%.
