Today, we have permanently banned more than 40000 accounts that have used third-party plug-in software to cheat in the past few weeks. This software can call information within the Dota client that is not visible in ordinary games, giving cheaters an unfair advantage.

The first thing to bear the brunt is to fix potential problems so that these cheating methods cannot be realized, and we also decided to remove these bad players from Dota's active players.

With such a goal, we launched a patch as soon as we learned about cheating. This patch creates a bait: a piece of data in the game client that cannot be read in a normal game, but can be read by these plug-ins. All the accounts banned today have read this "secret" area of the client, so we are very sure that every banned account deserves it.

As this plug-in software is very common, it also means that today's wave of blocking covers a wide range of areas, but will continue to take blocking measures in the future. Although wars with plug-in players and plug-in developers often take place in the shadows, this time we want the example to be made public to show our attitude: as long as you run any program to read data from the Dota client during the game, your account will be permanently blocked. This includes professionals, who will not be allowed to participate in all Valve e-sports events.
