Shulou(Shulou.com)11/24 Report--

February 22, according to foreign media reports, under the influence of multiple adverse factors, global smartphone demand declined significantly in the second half of last year, coupled with the supply setback of iPhone 14 Pro, resulting in a sharp decline in shipments for the whole year compared with the same period last year. Research institutions are expected to drop to 1.2055 billion units, down from 13.598 billion units in the previous year, down 11.3 percent from the same period last year.

Although shipments fell significantly last year compared with the same period last year, affecting many industries such as memory chips, analysts at some investment banks expect global smartphone shipments to resume growth this year, up 2.5 per cent from a year earlier.

According to expectations given by investment banking analysts, the increase in global smartphone shipments this year is due to an increase in shipments of Android-based smartphones, while Apple's iPhone shipments will continue to decline.

Specifically, analysts expect iPhone to ship 229 million units this year, down 0.7% from a year earlier. For Android smartphones, analysts expect shipments to grow by 3.2% year-on-year, driving industry-wide shipments to grow year-on-year.

If apple's iPhone shipments fall 0.7% year-on-year, as expected by investment banking analysts, that means shipments will decline for the second year in a row. Previous reports from research institutions showed that iPhone shipments fell 4 per cent last year compared with the same period last year.
