Electric vehicle batteries are already a competitive field for them, with LG New Energy and SK On battery manufacturers respectively.

From the latest foreign media reports, in addition to batteries, LG and SK in the field of electric vehicles have also spread to the charging market, the two companies are making related investments.

SK develops the electric vehicle charging business mainly through acquisition or investment. SK Signet, founded in 2021 as a result of the acquisition of charging pile maker Signet, has the largest market share in the US ultra-fast charging market and has expanded into Europe, where it announced on Monday that its subsidiary won an order worth 10 billion won in the UK in December last year.

In addition to other companies owned by the SK Signet,SK Group, related investments are also being made. SK Network invested 10 billion won in Everon, a local charging service operator, in January last year, making it the second-largest shareholder. SK eBay also acquired a stake in EverCharge, a US charging service provider, in March last year.

Like SK, LG Group's business in electric vehicle charging is in charging posts and charging services. In the organizational restructuring at the end of last year, LG Electronics set up a department responsible for electric vehicle charging business, and they have also built an electric vehicle charging pile production line in Pyeongchang's LG digital park.

In addition, it acquired a 60 per cent stake in AppleMango in June last year, partnering with GS Group, an electric vehicle charging pile maker, and the remaining 40 per cent of AppleMango is owned by GS Energy and GS Neotek of the GS group. In November of the same year, GS Energy decided to acquire ChargEV, a charging service provider, to expand its electric vehicle charging business.
