CTOnews.com February 21, the Canonical engineering team is actively promoting a new Flutter-based graphics installer while improving the existing Ubuntu desktop installer based on Ubiquity.

Canonical engineer Jmurp Nurmi has been optimizing the automatic installation process and integrating support for Microsoft Active Directory (AD) in GUI.

According to the latest public Pull Request request, CTOnews.com shares the interface of the new Ubuntu desktop installer as follows. When users run the Ubuntu release 23.04 through Live images, "autoinstall" is set to the kernel command line option, and the automatic installation can be run directly.

In addition to supporting automatic installation, the new version of Ubuntu installer also integrates Microsoft Active Directory in GUI. Canonical plans to enable the new installer in the Ubuntu 23.04 desktop ISO image.

Canonical's focus this year is on improving the stability and reliability of the new installer. It is expected that more features will be introduced in the Ubuntu 24.04 LTS version to be launched next year to meet the various needs of users.
