CTOnews.com, February 21 (Xinhua) Google was recently forced to agree to make some changes to India's Play Store to comply with the country's legal requirements. Now, according to AndroidAuthority, whistleblower Kuba Wojciechowski has found an internal document detailing all the changes to Android phones that will apply to India.

Android phones in India don't need these things, and according to the document, the Indian market will have a version of Google Mobile Services (GMS) with optional Google apps. Handset makers will be able to choose between the Indian version of Mobile Application Distribution Protocol (IMADA) or the regular Mobile Application Distribution Protocol (MADA) version of other markets.

If handset makers choose IMADA, they can only sell these phones in India. So IMADA is optional, unlike MADA agreements in other countries, where provisions are mandatory (such as EMADA in Europe, TMADA in Turkey, etc.).

In the Indian version of MADA, fewer pre-installed user-oriented applications will be required. The regular MADA agreement includes 11 pre-installed Google apps, but for the Indian market, only the Google Play App Store is needed. Of course, OEM vendors are also allowed to pre-install other applications if they wish.

Google will set a reward for each app for devices that are pre-installed with any of the 11 core apps (those required for global Android phones), but the size of the reward is unknown, but the specific terms of each app reward may be negotiated with the phone manufacturer.

IMADA also does not require Google search bars, Google folders or Play Store icons to be included on the phone's home screen. Moreover, Indian users will be able to select the default search engine during setup. It is reported that this feature will be available from the second quarter of this year.

CTOnews.com notes that phones with IMADA can only be sold in India, so why are Android phones different in India? Last year, India's Supreme Court fined Google for its anti-competitive behaviour. Google tried to appeal the court's decision, but the court rejected its appeal. All in all, Google will have to change the way its services operate in India if it wants its services to be allowed in the country.

Google then announced a series of major changes it plans to make to comply with the country's laws. For example, Google will license its apps to third-party manufacturers so they can pre-install them on their Android phones. Starting this month, developers will be allowed to add their favorite payment systems to their apps and games for in-app purchases, eliminating the need to pay the so-called "Google tax".

In addition, the change in the way it profiles and installs other app stores on Android is part of Google's plan, which will focus on educating users about the possible risks of side loading. In addition, Android users in India will receive help and FAQ articles about these changes so that everyone can understand.
