Beijing time, February 21 morning news, it is reported that recently, a professional gift provider in the United States sued Twitter. Twitter allegedly ordered a gift box worth about $7000 for its new boss, Elon Musk, only to fail to pay the bill. Of course, this is just one of the items owed by Twitter.

It is said that the luxurious Musk gift box of Twitter includes two custom-made jackets, a special cheese platter and a bottle of whisky worth $689.

The plaintiff, Canary Marketing of California, said in the complaint that Canary had been a partner of Twitter over the past decade, specializing in making promotional gifts, such as T-shirts with the Twitter logo.

In January, Canary filed a petition in a California district court, saying that after providing the Musk gift box, Twitter abruptly stopped paying in September 2022. Canary believes that Twitter violates the cooperation agreement signed between the two sides and owes the company a total of US $390000 so far.

The Musk gift box mentioned above is just one of the items that Twitter defaulted on payment. Twitter placed the order with Canary in September last year, with a total value of $6783.99, and Twitter asked for it to be sent to the company's headquarters in San Francisco, California.

Canary included a copy of the invoice for the gift box in the lawsuit, which was allegedly placed by a purchasing manager at Twitter.

The invoice showed that the gift box included a carefully carved cheese brand worth $215, as well as a bottle of Japanese first-class whisky and some space-themed merchandise, apparently taking into account Musk's interest in space exploration, including moon-shaped ice molds and rocket-shaped cocktail bartenders.

There were earlier reports that the gift box ordered by Twitter appeared to be for Musk personally. So far, Twitter and Canary Marketing have not commented on the lawsuit.

Last month, Lauren Borelli, vice president of Canary, said that since 2013, Canary has been working with Twitter to provide gift products with the Twitter brand, and Canary has provided more than $10 million worth of goods to Twitter from 2014 to August 2022. However, since September last year, Twitter suddenly stopped making payments to Canaries.

After Twitter stopped paying, Canary continued to deliver gifts to Twitter, with the highest order up to $250000 (including $67000 shipping). The order includes 2000 gift sets, each with Twitter-themed pullovers, T-shirts, socks and stickers. The price of each pair of socks is as high as $10.45.

Other items that canaries provide to Twitter include bottled water, candles, soap, slippers, bath salts and cookie cutters.

In a court filing last week, Twitter said it would take several weeks to investigate Canary's allegations. The court ordered Twitter to respond to the indictment by March 17.

Musk began revamping Twitter after buying social media giant Twitter for $44 billion last October. However, Mr Musk's leadership at Twitter has spread all kinds of confusion.

In the past few months, Twitter has also faced a series of lawsuits, some from former employees and some from real estate companies.

In addition, Musk said Twitter's operating costs were out of control, so he launched a massive cost-cutting campaign, laying off thousands of employees, canceling free meals and even stopping paying rent for some office space.
