CTOnews.com, February 20 (Xinhua)-- Nokia today announced the launch of its sixth-generation super coherent photon services engine, PSE-6s, which claims to reduce network power consumption by 60%.

PSE-6s supports efficient delivery of high-speed services at distances of 2000 kilometers or more, including 800GE Ethernet. PSE-6s will make its debut at MWC 2023 in Barcelona and participate in next month's OFC 2023. CTOnews.com will follow up on Nokia's major MWC 2023 releases at that time.

▲ Picture Source Nokia according to reports, Nokia PSE-6s photonic service engine supports a unique "chip-to-chip interface", enabling it to be deployed in pairs to support the industry's first 2.4Tb / s coherent transmission solution, allowing network operators to efficiently transmit any high-speed client business combination, including 400GE and 800GE.

PSE-6s has also tripled the performance of the optical transport platform, supporting the transmission of 800GE services in metro and data center interconnection (DCI) applications, and services of 2000 km or more over long-distance networks and sea cables.

Nokia said PSE-6s combines the latest generation of 5nm coherent digital signal processors (DSP) with Nokia's CSTAR silicon technology. PSE-6s operates at 130 Gbaud, providing the capacity per wavelength 1.2Tb / s for the next generation of coherent transmission. PSE-6s provides a simple upgrade path for network operators, allowing them to smoothly upgrade the network by introducing PSE-6s into the entire 1830 series optical network platform (including 1830 PSS, 1830 PSI-M and 1830 PSS-x) using the existing network channel planning that conforms to the ITU-T WDM standard.

▲ Picture Source Nokia's optical transmission devices including PSE-6s are expected to be used in customer network trials in the second half of 2023.
