CTOnews.com February 20 news, TrendForce Jibang Consulting released a report today that the proportion of Server DRAM bit output in 2023 is about 37.6%, which will officially exceed 36.8% of Mobile DRAM.

▲ source: TrendForce Jibang Consulting report points out that since 2022, the original DRAM factory has continued to transfer the capacity originally allocated to Mobile DRAM to Server DRAM, which has relatively strong and stable prospects, in an attempt to reduce the pressure on the imbalance between supply and demand on the Mobile DRAM side. Due to the conservative growth rate of smartphone shipments and average carrying capacity in 2023, the original manufacturer's product portfolio strategy is to continue to increase the proportion of Server DRAM.

In terms of Mobile DRAM, the average annual growth rate of carrying capacity has slowed down significantly since 2022, mainly due to the huge inventory pressure on smartphone brand manufacturers in 2022, which led to the introduction of new products mainly to extend the existing inventory specifications, limiting its growth.

TrendForce Jibang Consulting said that with the results of inventory elimination in 2023 and driven by the upgrading of the next generation of iPhone specifications, it is estimated that the average carrying capacity of Mobile DRAM will grow by about 6.7 per cent year on year, up from 3.9 per cent in 2022, and is expected to be less than 10 per cent each year.

As for Server DRAM, driven by the new applications of AI and HPC, the growth rate of subsequent server shipments and average carrying capacity is higher than that of smartphones, and it will continue to be the project with the highest proportion of DRAM bit output in the next few years.
