Samsung Electronics and LG Electronics have begun to plan ahead for 2023, and panel demand in 2023 is likely to surge 22% year-on-year from a 14-year low in 2022, the report said.

CTOnews.com learned from data released by Omdia that China's top TV manufacturers bought a record number of panels between the third quarter of 2022 and the fourth quarter of 2022, winning and increasing their share of the global market, especially in North America.

"Chinese TV manufacturers are expected to increase their purchases into 2023," Omdia said. "although demand will be relatively weak in the first quarter of 2023, market demand will rise in the second quarter, followed by a seasonal surge in demand in the second half of the year."

According to Omdia's forecast, starting from 2023, global TV brands and OEM manufacturers will eventually begin to increase panel orders and start a new replacement cycle, especially for large-size TVs.
