CTOnews.com Feb. 20-Social media company Twitter is facing a growing number of claims for not paying its bills after being acquired by Elon Musk, according to The Wall Street Journal.

Twitter is planning to break even this year. In recent months, landlords, consultants and suppliers have filed payment claims in at least nine lawsuits totaling more than $14 million plus interest.

Notably, among the overdue notices was an invoice of nearly $7000 (currently about 48160 yuan) for a "souvenir gift box for Elon" ordered by Twitter marketing days before the $44 billion acquisition closed on Oct. 27 last year.

According to previous reports, Twitter's daily revenue fell 40% year-on-year in January 2023, and hundreds of Twitter's top advertisers have stopped or scaled back their spending. One company estimates Twitter ad revenue fell as much as 70% year-on-year in December 2022.
